Sengelmann Hall - Giving Old Texas Tradition a New Home

Sengelmann Hall is an 1890’s Texas Dance Hall, located in historic Schulenburg, Texas. For a true taste of Texas tradition, patrons can enjoy spectacular live music and dancing in the original upstairs dance hall, pre-Prohibition cocktails and local brews in the saloon and biergarten, and impeccable German-Czech cuisine with fresh, local Texas ingredients.

We were thrilled when Sengelmann Hall asked us to redesign their website and gave us a chance to show off our own Texas style!

From the beginning, we were determined to create a site that captured the unique atmosphere of Sengelmann Hall. We began with a pile of Victorian-era catalogues and advertisements that would have been a common sight for Sengelmann Hall’s original patrons. We paired this classic design with their original photography, balancing the historic feel with colorful images of the people, food and fun at the newly-restored Hall.

Interactive features include updated specials from the German-Czech, an interactive event calendar and integrated ticket purchasing from FrontGate Tickets. Site visitors can also preview music from the upcoming performers and link to artists’ websites. And for friends of Senglemann Hall, there are also links to the venue’s Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites.

“I wanted to create a design that balanced the history of Sengelmann Hall with the vibrant color and life that people still bring to it today,” said Shawn Ng, Associate Creative Director at IF. “I love how the old-timey illustrations and fonts complement the photography and the contemporary style that its owners have brought to the business.”
